LAHORE, July 24: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday acquitted three Anjuman Mazareen Punjab leaders, including its chairman, and 92 workers of the charge of storming the Renala Khurd police station along with other party workers last month.
Those acquitted were Anjuman chairman Younis Iqbal, secretary Dr Christopher John and vice-president Muhammad Yasin.
Accused’s counsel Malik Zafar Iqbal Khokhar contended that there was inconsistency in the statements of police officials appearing as prosecution witnesses and there arose no question of conviction on the basis of this evidence.
