SANGHAR, July 24: A dust storm, followed by heavy rain, lashed the district on Thursday.
The rain started at 3:30pm and continued for one hour. Knee-deep water inundated low-lying areas.The storm and rain damaged cotton and chili crops.
THREE KILLED: Three persons were killed in separate incidents here on Wednesday night.
In the Liaq Jamali village, Dilbar Khan Jamali killed his niece, Bashiran, 16, wife of Mumtaz Jamali, in her house on the pretext of Karo-kari.
Malook Jamali, the brother of the woman, lodged the case.
He said his uncle shot his sister dead in his presence. He said his sister was not a Kari.
Iqbal alias Bali was shot dead while he was asleep in the Autaq of his landlord, Anwar Hayat, in Chak-2, near Gujri.
A resident of 18-Mile Mori, Anwar Rajar, 23, was killed near Padri Jo Goth while he was asleep in the Autaq of his landlord. All the three bodies were taken to the Sanghar Civil Hospital for postmortem.
OATH: DPO Dr Ameer Ahmad Shaikh has administered oath to five DSPs, 18 SHOs, five inquiry officers and other staff members at his office.
TEACHERS PROTEST: On the call of the Education Alliance, the primary and middle school teachers of the Shahdadpur taluka observed a token hunger strike in Shahdadpur on Wednesday to protest against the assistant district officer, education, female.
The teachers also staged sit-in at the Cafe Kamran Chowk.Speaking on the occasion, Ali Khan Khoso, Zulekhan Dahri and others accused ADO Nighat Pathan of being involved in corruption and nepotism.
They alleged that illegal deductions from their salaries were being made and the teachers of the middle school, Bahadur Kolhi, were not yet paid their salaries for June.
