20 villages flooded

DADU, July 24: Twenty villages were flooded and 16 houses in kutcha area collapsed on Thursday as the water level at the Indus River continued to rise and put pressure on its right bank.

Baloch Jatoi, Kalwal Jatoi, Saleh Jatoi, Haji Mooso Lund, Duroo Lund, Gulan Lund, Khair Mohammad Lund, Dano Chandio, Mir Chandio, Khaki, Mohammad Hashim Mastoi, Gahino Jatoi, Saindad Jatoi, Mazar Jatoi, Gulab Shaikh and other villages were flooded.

A total of 16 kutcha houses in Gulan Lund and Khair Mohammad Lund villages collapsed.

The water flow also damaged some more area of river banks and the J-spur.

The people of kutcha area are shifting their families and cattlehead to safer places.

Talking to this correspondent here on Thursday, Sukkur Barrage chief-engineer Syed Noor Mohammad Shah said the Indus River had damaged the left guide bank from RD-950 to RD-1100, the right guide bank from RD-3000 to RD-3400 and the J-spur from RD-1750 to RD-1900 near the Dadu-Moro bridge. However, he said the situation was under control.
