Balochistan gets new chief secretary

QUETTA: The federal government has appointed Shoaib Mir (BS-21) chief secretary of Balochistan. He will assume charge on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Cabinet Secretariat on Saturday, Mr Mir, working as Chairman of the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, will replace Saifullah Chattah who retired on March 3 after serving as chief secretary of Balochistan for three years.

The newly-appointed chief secretary had held various posts in the province in the past, including principal secretary to the governor.

The Punjab government appointed Mr Chattah as member of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority the day he retired as chief secretary.

Mr Chattah began his professional career from Balochistan as an assistant commissioner and retired from the same province as chief secretary, besides serving on various positions in the federal government, including as secretary for water and power.
