MARDAN, Jan 2: Local farmers have expressed concern over the continuing dry spell in the province, fearing that the drought can lead to a disaster in the coming days.
Upper areas of Rustam, Katlang, Shamozai, Babozai, Alo Qasmi and Toru are rain-fed where wheat, barley and mustard crops are cultivated. The most important cash crop of these area is mustard. Pir Sai and Badam villages are considered the best growing areas for mustard.
The growers fear if it did not rain in a few days, the standing crops would suffer a serious damage.
