Rural areas without power for six days

TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 29: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company has failed to restore power supply to a dozen rural areas at Chutiana and Pirmahal even after six days of suspension of supply because of theft of wires near Chak 319-GB.

A Fesco official told this correspondent that dozens of the company’s staffers were making efforts to restore supply.

A Chutiana police official said a gang of Wapda electricity wire thieves had been traced and three of its members already held with stolen wire worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Relevant police have registered a case under section 40 of the electricity act and section 379 PPC against four members of the gang.

FUNERAL PRAYER: Scores of people, including educationists and government officials, attended the funeral prayer of former assistant education officer Chaudhry Bashir Ahmad Tabassum, here on Monday.

Mr Tabassum, also the Madar-i-Millat year district coordinator, died on Sunday of a cardiac arrest.
