SRINAGAR, Dec 28: Three people were killed in occupied Kashmir violence, where a prominent freedom struggle leader was freed on Sunday after a 14-year detention, police said.
Ajaz Ahmed and Javed Khan were shot dead by suspected Kashmiri fighters in the districts of Anantnag and Pulwama overnight, police said.
Khan was a government employee but the motive behind the killing was not immediately known. No group claimed responsibility for the deaths.
RELEASED: Authorities set free Salim Zargar who was arrested on April 18, 1990 in Srinagar shortly after the start of the insurgency. Mr Zargar was associated with the Students Liberation Front, which ceased to exist in 1993.—AFP
