LARKANA: Hashmi’s release demanded

LARKANA, Dec 28: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leaders on Sunday demanded that the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy chairman Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, People’s Party Parliamentarians leader Asif Zardari and MNA Sher Ali should be released from jail.

Speaking on the occasion of 54th birth anniversary of Mian Nawaz Sharif the party leaders said the day was not far when Nawaz Sharif would come back.

The Khaksar Tahrik leader Dr Sabhia Mughal, Ashique Kalhoro, Ahmed Bakhsh Korai and others participated in the function. A 25-pound cake was also cut on the occasion.

In a resolution the PML-N rejected the construction of greater Thal canal and Kalabagh dam.

60 booked: The Market police have registered a case against 60 Indian Beri workers for blocking roads and burning tyres while protesting against the abolition of licence system.

Those booked included Manzoor Aheer, Mashooque Chandio, Inam Abro, Shabir Abro, Saghir Mithani, Irshad Shaikh and others.

No one was arrested so far.

Demo: Restaurateurs and tea shop owners here the other day staged a protest demonstration against the excesses of police.

They raised slogans against the police and blocked the Larkana-Ratodero road. They also pelted police with stones.
