KARACHI, Dec 23: Two women were shot dead in Bahadurabad by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night.
Police said that both the women were employees of a private distribution company. They were crossing the road for public transport when an red colour car intercepted them in front of the Chase Departmental Store on mian Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
Police, quoting eyewitnesses, said that the a young man stepped out of the car and opened fire at the two women, using a TT pistol. The suspects escaped from the spot.
One of the victims was identified as Shaheen, 38, while the other could not be identified. They were rushed to the nearby Liaquat National Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Police said the women were residents of Khokhrapar and were heading home after work. Both were employees of a distribution company dealing in Chinese machines . Police are clueless about the motive behind the killings.
KILLED: Body of a man was recovered from an apartment in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Tuesday.
Police said the body of an unidentified man, a foreigner in his early 50s, was found from an apartment in Jauhar Square. Police said the victim might have died due to natural causes. The body was shifted to the JPMC for the postmortem examination.
ACCIDENT: A young student died and his friend was injured in a road accident in Model Colony on Monday morning.
Police said that Ethasham, 16, and Tahir, 15, were walking to the school at Liaquat Avenue when they were knocked down by a speeding minibus of route (F-6) JE-9284. The errant driver escaped from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.
Both the injured were taken to a nearby private hospital where Ethasham was pronounced dead. Tahir was taken to the JPMC for treatment.
DIES: A young drug addict died of electrocution in a multi-storey building in Kharadar on Monday night.
Police said that the unidentified addict was trying to cut the electric cable after a fire that broke out was brought under control.
A spokesman for the fire department said the fire erupted at the fifth floor of a eight-storey building in Old Kharadar.
About eight persons were caught in the fire. They were rescued by the firemen. Chief fire officer, Kazim Ali told Dawn that besides the apartments, there were plastic godowns located on the floor which caught the fire.
