KARACHI, Dec 22: The advisor to chief minister on home affairs, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, presided over a high-level meeting that was attended by the Consul-Generals of the USA, the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Japan here on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by chief secretary, additional chief secretary, IGP, DG Rangers, DCO, CCPO, DIGs operations, traffic, investigations and deputy chief of protocol.
The IG police, DG Rangers and DIG Operations gave the briefing, which covered major incidents of terrorism, efforts of law enforcement agencies to apprehend the terrorist activities. The briefing also covered security arrangements made in the changed circumstances after 9/11 particularly for the diplomatic offices, their residential areas and other foreign interests.
The Consul-Generals appreciated the initiatives of the government to share the information about government efforts in the war against terrorism.
However, they requested to evolve a uniform force for the security of diplomatic offices and residential areas. —APP
