LONDON, Dec 22: Libya is ready to sign a protocol allowing surprise UN inspections of its nuclear sites, Libyan Prime Minister Shukri Mohammed Ghanim said in an interview with BBC radio on Monday.

“Yes,” replied Mr Ghanim when asked in a telephone interview from Tripoli whether Libya was ready to sign the protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty allowing snap inspections of nuclear facilities.

“We agree to the commitment that we are taking from the International Atomic Energy Agency and we are willing to abide by its rules and honour our commitments, whatever those commitments mean,” he said. —AFP
