Junaid Jamshed's body identified: DC Islamabad

The body of singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed was identified on Monday with the help of dental and facial x-rays, reported DawnNews.

"The body was identified with the help of samples from teeth and x-rays of his face," said Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capt (r) Mushtaq Ahmed.

Earlier, the remains of at least 23 victims of the the PK-661 plane crash near Havelian were transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad for DNA testing.

The remains of the victims will be handed over to their surviving relatives after identification.

PIA flight PK-661 carrying 48 passengers and crew crashed on the way to Islamabad from Chitral on December 7 at 4:42pm PST.

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed there were no survivors from the ill-fated flight.

The passenger list confirmed there were 31 men, 9 women and 2 infants on board the flight, including singer-cum-evangelist Junaid Jamshed and his family, as well as three foreigners.

The ATR-42 aircraft departed from Chitral at around 3:30pm and was expected to land at Islamabad's Benazir Bhutto International Airport at around 4:40pm but crashed in Havelian near Abbottabad shortly after a distress call was sent to the control tower.
