Amusement park in Japan apologises for freezing fish into ice rink

An amusement park in Japan was forced to close an ice skating rink with approximately 5,000 dead fish frozen beneath its surface after the attraction received overwhelming criticism.

The ice aquarium at Space World, located in the city of Kitakyushu, was intended to draw in guests. Instead, the 25 varieties of frozen sea creatures generated outrage once images of the rink were featured on local news reports, according to CNN.

“We were shocked to hear the reaction as the ice skate rink was very popular since it opened two weeks ago, and we had an unprecedented number of visitors,” Space World manager Toshimi Takeda told the network.

The small fish and shellfish were already dead when the rink designers purchased them from a wholesale market, according to reports. The frozen fish were arranged to spell out “hello” and into the shape of an arrow to direct skaters, The Guardian noted.

The park apologised for the attraction, “We deeply apologise to all who had unpleasant feelings about the ice aquarium.”

Park organisers plan to remove the fish and hold a memorial service for them.

A tank built for cats to scare off dogs!

The Russian T34 tank is a feared military vehicle but this particular model’s not for humans in battle, but made especially for cats. A scale model of the design classic, was constructed by engineer Ivan Veryasov, for animals to have some fun.

Taking two months to build the machine in the evening, the Novosibirsk native says he used the best materials he could find. The turret rotates 360 degrees, the barrel goes up and down and a cat can get inside easily, he reveals.

Ivan insists that any pet will love it. “I saw what houses pet shops sell, you know these hastily made creations made from low-quality material and assembled with just a furniture stapler.”

He has also acquired a pet cat during the course of building his machine, and says that he’s pleased with his creation that started as a fantasy in his mind.
