MANSEHRA, Dec 17: A worker of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) was buried alive, while his two colleagues were seriously injured in a landslide on the Karakoram Highway near Dassu in Kohistan district on Tuesday.
The workers were clearing a section of the road when they were hit by the landslide.
The victim was identified as Feroze Khan. The injured workers are Nazir and Qari Bashir. They were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Abbottabad.
Meanwhile, the FWO authorities closed the KKH due to massive landslide near Pattan. The road clearing operation was under way.
STRANDED TOURISTS: At least 13 tourists who were stranded in Naran in Kaghan valley owing to heavy snowfall were evacuated on Tuesday and brought to Balakot.
The snowfall in Kaghan valley, which started this week, came after an interval of many years and damaged the road network in the areas.
The Malakand-Naran-Jalkand road was blocked near Kapan and Gorian due to landslide. The traffic on the road would be restored in March or April as more snowfall has been forecast in January and February.
