KARACHI, Dec 17: Advisor to Sindh chief minister on home and coordination, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, expressing concern over Nadra’s deadline of Dec 31, has called for extension in the date for further six months.
The advisor said that Nadra’s decision to enforce CNICs from Jan 1, and cancellation of old ID cards has worried people in the country. He said that the decision would not only create problems for the general public but also affect about 130,000 persons dependent on Zakat and subsistence allowance in Sindh after the reports that bank accounts of only those having CNIC would be dealt from Jan 1.
He said that the Nadra centres are not enough to cope with the need of people and its staff has failed to issue CNICs on given dates even on payment of urgent fee.
The advisor said that there should be further extension in the cut off date of old ID cards for next six months.
He urged the Nadra to keep open its offices on holidays as well and streamline their system.
