DHQ hospital patients get free CT scan facility
SAHIWAL: The District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital has started providing free computed topography (CT) scan facility to the patients at its neurology department on the direction of the chief minister.
The CM had found patients being charged Rs1,000 each for CT scan by a non-government organisation during his surprise visit to the hospital on Tuesday and took notice of it. Many patients had complained to him about the fee.
Punjab Minister for Ushr and Zakat Malik Nadeem Kamran told the media on Thursday the cost of the test would be paid by the DHQ and the Punjab government.
He also inspected the under-construction six-storey building of the hospital and directed the authorities to finish the work on time.
Through a video link, the CM held a meeting with Commissioner Babar Hayat, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Shaukat Ali Khichi, Sahiwal Medical College Principal Dr Zafar and DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Aziz on Wednesday.
He told the DCO that it was the sole responsibility of the district and divisional management to look after the health facility.
MS Dr Aziz told Dawn the attendance of doctors and medical staff would be recorded through biometric machines to be sent to the authorities in the provincial capital.
