QUETTA, Dec 15: The election tribunal comprising Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani on Monday disqualified an MNA of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and an MPA of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) when their rivals proved that the graduation degrees presented by the two lawmakers were not equivalent to those of the University Grants Commission.
The tribunal unseated MMA’s Gul Muhammad Khan from NA-261 (Pishin) and PML-Q’s Mir Ghafoor Lehri from PB-29 (Tambu).
Dr Kaleemullah Khan of the Pukthunkhwa Milli Awami Party had challenged the degree of Gul Muhammad Khan while Mir Sadiq Umrani of the Pakistan People’s Party had filed the appeal against Mir Ghafoor Lehri.
Dr Kaleemullah Khan and Mir Sadiq Umrani had prayed to the tribunal to disqualify the lawmakers as their degrees did not fulfil the condition required to fight the election.
