ISLAMABAD, Dec 15: Chief Commissioner Junaid Iqbal issued orders on Monday that the proceedings of the case of ARD President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi would be held in Central Jail Adiyala instead of district and sessions court, the spokesman for Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration told Dawn.

The chief commissioner exercised the powers and changed the venue of the case under sub-section II of section 9 of the CrPC, the spokesman said.

He said the SSP had submitted a request that activists of the PML-N had created disturbance on the court’s premises during last hearing of the case of Mr Hashmi, who is also the acting president of the PML-N.

The SSP had requested the chief commissioner that such acts could create law and order situation in the district court in future and the venue should be changed.

The chief commissioner directed the court and police to conduct further hearing of the case in Central Jail Adiyala.
