PESHAWAR, Jan 1: The general secretary of Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam (JUI), Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery, has said that the government has failed to bring political and economic stability in the country.
A press release issued here on Tuesday said that the party’s general secretary held meetings with leaders of various political parties, including NAPP president Ajmal Khattak, general secretary of PML (N) Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, and provincial general secretary of Pakistan-Afghan Defence Council Sirajul Haq.
The press release said that the JUI (F) was making contacts with the leaders of various religious and political parties to develop consensus at the national level. Maulana Haidery’s meetings were part of that campaign.
During meetings the political situation of the country, tension on eastern border and the external policy of the government were discussed.
Expressing concern over the situation prevailing in the country, the meeting observed that the government had kept two major political parties’ leaders abroad and detained Qazi Hussain Ahmad and Maulana Fazlur Rehman without any reason.
The statement said that there was complete understanding among political parties on all key issues and they wanted restoration of the constitution and democracy in the country.
