No change in Sindh govt: president

SUKKUR, Dec 14: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has brushed aside rumours that Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar is being removed.

He was responding to a journalist’s question in Khangarh regarding changes in the Sindh setup.

When the reporter insisted that the president clarify the situation, the security personnel deployed there ushered him out of the function.

Political leaders who attended the function said the president’s visit to Khangarh had strengthened the position of the chief minister.

They said the visit reflected the confidence of the Centre in Mr Mahar and it was a setback for his opponents.

When a reporter asked Sindh Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim to comment on the issue, he said no change was likely in the coming days.
