HYDERABAD, Dec 14: Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences vice-chancellor Prof Dr Jan Mohammad Memon has announced that angiography and cardiac surgery facilities would be provided at the university hospital, Hyderabad, by the end of next year.
He was delivering his presidential address at the concluding session of the 16th three-day biennial International Congress of Cardiology organized by the Pakistan Cardiac Society, Hyderabad chapter, at the university on Sunday.
He said that the Angio Lab project had been approved by the Sindh chief minister at a cost of Rs10 million and hoped that the official procedure would be completed in a few weeks. A building for the purpose was already available at the LUMHS hospital, Hyderabad, he added.
The convener of the congress, Professor Dr Nazir Memon, in his speech lauded efforts of the delegates who had presented valuable research papers.
During the concluding session, a gold medal was given jointly to the convener, Dr Nazir, and the secretary of the cardiac society, Dr Feroze Memon, who had organized the congress. Shields and certificates were also given to the members of the organizing committee and pharmaceutical companies for setting up informative stalls during the congress.
