54 dams planned for Balochistan
ISLAMABAD, Dec 13: Balochistan Planning and Development’s Additional Chief Secretary Maj Nadir Ali has said that 54 dams will be constructed to effectively cope with the scarcity of water in Balochistan.
While talking in a PTV programme on Saturday he said ‘Band Khush Dil Khan’ was under construction in Pashin at a cost of Rs7 billion for which the funding had been provided by the World Bank while Bolan Dam would soon be constructed at a cost of Rs4 billion.
He said another project was in the offing to prevent wastage of water.
The additional chief secretary said desiltation plant supplying 25 million gallons of water daily to Gawader would be initiated in collaboration with an American company. There would be no scarcity of water in Gawader after the completion of the project, he added.
He said 31 per cent of total development funds from Balochistan budget were being provided to the district governments to execute developmental projects in their respective jurisdiction.—APP
