Timeline of deadly attacks in Quetta

September 3, 2010: A suicide bomb attack killed 59 people at a rally held by Shia organisations on Al Quds day.

August 31, 2011: A powerful blast killed at least 11 and injured 13 others when a bomb was detonated on Gulistan Road in the Murriabad area of Quetta.

September 20, 2011: Militants gunned down 26 people belonging to the Shia Hazara community while they were travelling in a bus near Quetta.

June 28, 2012: Fourteen people, including two policemen and a woman, were killed and many others were injured in a suicide attack on a bus carrying pilgrims returning from Iran. The suicide bomber was in a private car which hit the bus in the Hazar Ganji area of Quetta.

October 2012: Four Hazara men were shot dead in an attack on a scrap shop. Men on motorcycles opened fire on the shop in Kabari Market on Sirki Road and fled after killing Ata Ali, Muhammad Ibrahim, Ghulam Ali and Syed Awiz.Dec 28, 2013: A suicide blast at the funeral of a slain police officer in Quetta killed 30 members of the police force, including a DIG and SP, and 60 others injured.

January 10, 2013: A double suicide attack on a snooker club killed 92 in an Quetta locality populated by Shia Hazaras.

February 16, 2013: A bomb blast at a market in Quetta’s Hazara Town, a Shia neighbourhood, left 89 people dead.

November 12, 2014: At least five people were killed and two others were injured in a firing incident in QuettaOctober 19, 2015: An explosion occurred on a bus terminal located on Quetta’s Saryab Road, killing at least 11 people and injuring many more.

January 14, 2016: At least 15 people, among them 13 police personnel and a soldier of the Frontier Corps, were killed while 25 others were injured when a suicide bomber struck the city’s Satellite Town area. The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakis­tan and another proscribed group, Jaishul Islam, claimed responsibility for the attack.

January 19, 2016: Six personnel of the Frontier Corps were killed and another was injured when a bomb exploded near their vehicle in the coal-mining area of Margat in Bolan district.

February 7, 2016: A suicide attack targeted a security forces’ vehicle near the premises of the heavily guarded Quetta district courts which killed nine and injured 34.

May 3, 2016: Five policemen were injured in an IED blast in Quetta.

August 9, 2016: A suicide bomber targeted the emergency services ward of Quetta’s Civil Hospital, killing at least 70 lawyers and leaving dozens injured.

October 5, 2016: At least four women belonging to the Hazara Shia community were killed while one was injured when assailants opened fire on a bus on Kirani Road near Pud Gali Chowk in Quetta.
