PESHAWAR, Dec 11: An army official of Azad Kashmir Regiment died from electrocution during an exercise at a camp on Tela Ban Road in Badhber area, on the outskirts of the city, sources told 6Dawn here on Thursday.
They said a man, Shad Mohammad, son of Taj Mohammad, had exchanged fire two days ago with his brother Jan Mohammad. They had developed a row over a peace of land.
Though no one was hurt, the electric supply line passing along the roadside was badly damaged in the firing, which caused threat to human lives, the sources said.
When the jawans of Azad Kashmir Regiment were jogging on the road late on Wednesday night as part of their routine exercise, Hawaldar Mohammad Younas, son of Mohammad Manzoor, a resident of Punjab, stepped on a live wire and died instantly.
Lt-Col Mohammad Nadeem of Azad Kashmir Regiment lodged an FIR against the officials of Badhber Wapda sub-division, Shah Mohammad and his brother Jan Mohammad.
Police have arrested the two brothers, but none of the Wapda official was detained till filling of this report.
An assistant sub-inspector of Badhber police claimed that he had registered a case against the two brothers and also informed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company about the damage of power supply line and stressed the authority to repair it soon.
