DOCTORS have prescribed me an injection — EPO 10000 — to be taken twice a week. The cost of one injection at the Aga Khan University Hospital’s pharmacy in Clifton is Rs 4,500, at a medical store Rs 2,400 and at the Kidney Centre’s pharmacy Rs 1,200.

I have opted for the Kidney Centre for obvious reasons. But the vast variation in the cost raises many questions and, therefore, it is needful that the Drug Regulatory Authority comes up with a clarification in the larger interest of the sick.
