US launches air attack in Khost

BAGRAM AIR BASE, Dec 9: Hundreds of US troops, backed by helicopters, on Tuesday launched an air assault against suspected militants near Afghanistan’s restive southeastern border, a US military spokesman said.

Soldiers trained in the “tundra and the mountains of Alaska” raided a region in the frontier province of Khost, US Lt Col Bryan Hilferty told reporters at Bagram Air Base.—AFP
