PESHAWAR, Dec 9: Prominent tribal leader and elder of South Waziristan Agency Malik Lal Mohammad Wazir has said that setting up of a Governor’s Secretariat in Fata should not be made a political issue.

Talking to newsmen at South Waziristan Agency, Malik Lal Mohammad Wazir said the Governor’s Fata Secretariat had been established for early uplift of tribal area and was the long last demand of tribesmen.

The tribal leader also stressed upon political parties to avoid interference in Fata affairs.

He also demanded merger of Safron (State and Frontier Region) in Fata Secretariat.

Malik Wazir praised President Pervez Musharraf, NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Corps Commander Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai for launching developmental schemes in Fata.

He said seven million tribesmen were satisfied with the pace of developmental work carried out during the last couple of years.

He also demanded setting up of separate passport offices in each agency of Fata.—APP
