ISLAMABAD, Dec 7: The government has decided to delegate financial powers to the capital’s district and sessions courts. The courts would now prepare establishment and contingent budgets at their own.

The government has taken the decision in response to the plea taken by the district and sessions judge, Chaudhary Asad Raza, for financial autonomy.

It may be recalled that the government has already given the financial autonomy to the district courts all over the country.

The district judiciary has been directed to finalize its financial budget from the coming fiscal year. At present the government provides financial assistance to the district judiciary through the chief commissioner of Islamabad.
