PESHAWAR, Dec 6: Peshawar District Football Association on Saturday announced a 16-member team for the forthcoming inaugural Inter-Provincial Games to be held from Dec 19 to 21 at different venues under the auspices of Punjab Olympics Association.
A three-member selection committee comprising of Qazi Muhammad Asif, Haji Salahuddin and Khawaja Muhammad Ilyas watched trials for selection of the team at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium in which players from all the registered clubs participated.
All the selected players have been asked to report at the same venue to camp commandant and international FIFA referee Fareed Ullah Khan on Dec 9, 2003 at 2:00 pm for further training and coaching.
The selected members of the team are; Abdul Shakoor, Muhammad Hashim, Kashif Khan, Sohail Ahmed, Atta Ullah, Javed Khan, Zahid Ullah, Azhar Ahmed, Atiq Khan, Yasir Khan, Shahid Shinwari, Johar Ali, Aziz Ullah, and Haq Nawaz.
The three-day extravaganza in which more than 600 athletes and officials will take part are the first of their kind in the country in that they are aimed at fostering unity and brotherhood among all the citizens of the country.
Besides soccer, the Inter-Provincial Games also ferature athletics, boxing, volleyball, karate, wrestling, weightlifting, gymnastics, cycling, baseball, and swimming.—APP
