MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Kashmir Regional Cricket Association (AKRCA) has announced to organize a grand sports event titled Azad Kashmir Super League (AKSL) which begins in Azad Kashmir from Sept 20 to promote the game of cricket in the region.
The Secretary General AJK Regional Cricket Association Tanveer Ahmed Mughal, Chairman of the Association Syed Siddique Shah and Media Advisor Syed Nasir Ali Shah disclosed the plans for the league while addressing a joint press conference here on Friday.
Tanveer said that it would be the first ever mega sports event in history of AJK in which superstars of Pakistan national cricket will also participate. “We have divided the teams into five zones in which five best teams of Azad Kashmir and superstars of Pakistan cricket will compete,” he said.
Tanveer added that the objective of the sports gala is to revive cricket and other sports activities in the region after the 2005 earthquake had devastated Azad Kashmir and destroyed sports culture.
The Chairman AKRCA Syed Siddique Shah on the occasion said that the event will start on the Septe 20 and the first match would be played between Habib Bank and Azad Kashmir Cricket United at the Nedol Stadium, Muzaffarabad.
He revealed that some of Pakistan’s leading players including Ahmed Shahzad, Abdul Rehman and Umer Akmal will also participate in the super league.
