GUJRANWALA, Dec 4: A mini-bus was smashed by an express train at the unmanned Atawa railway crossing on Thursday.
There was no casualty as the bus was vacant whereas the driver managed to step down in time after the vehicle was entangled in rails. The bus (LRT-6072) was on its way to city from Atawa village. Railway police have registered a case against the absconding bus driver.
This was the third train-bus crash at an unmanned crossing during the last few months.
HAILED: The local chamber of commerce has welcomed the withdrawal of anti-dumping duty on Pakistani bed linen by the European Commission and appreciated efforts of Federal Minister for Trade and Commerce Humayun Akhtar.
Speaking at a meeting held here on Thursday and presided over by chamber president Shaukat Javed, the participants expressed the hope that the federal minister would also resolve the quota categories issue.
