PESHAWAR, Dec 4: The launching ceremony of the “Kaali Dhup”, a Hindko poetic collection of prominent writer, poet and research scholar late Farigh Bokhari, was held at the Iranian Cultural Centre by the Gandhara Hindko Board.
Presiding over the ceremony, prominent Urdu poet Ahmad Faraz paid great tribute to Farigh Bokhari. He said Farigh was a brave and courageous writer who never compromised on principles. He said that Farigh was my senior and his house served as an academy for me.
Mr Faraz also proposed steps for the promotion of Hindko. He suggested that a committee should be constituted to work for the promotion of the Hindko language.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Khatir Ghaznavi said Farigh was a symbol of resistance and he always struggled against oppression.
While addressing the ceremony the son of Farigh Bokhari, Qamar Abbas said his father had devoted his entire life for the promotion of literature.
The Director General of Iranian Cultural Centre Peshawar, Mr Raeesus Sadaat, in his brief Urdu address stressed the need for the promotion of native languages. He also paid tribute to Farigh Bokhari.
