HYDERABAD, Dec 2: The Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh, Ahmed Ali Halepoto, here on Monday defended the election of the PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel’s Ghulam Ali Gopang as Hyderabad (rural) taluka Nazim.

Recording his statement at the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, he said that Mr Gopang had obtained more than 50 per cent votes as required by the Sindh Local Government Ordinance.
