Honorary Consulate of Romania opens in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that Pakistan has cordial relations with Romania which need further improvement.

This, he said, while addressing as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Romania here on Wednesday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, ambassadors of Bosnia, Tanzania and Sri Lanka, Deputy Speaker Mehr Taj Roghani, MNAs, MPAs, senators, provincial ministers, and Honorary Consul General of Romania in Peshawar, Ayub Afridi, were also present on the occasion.

Mr Jhagra said the launching of the Honorary Consulate of Romania was a great achievement in the historic city of Peshawar. He said Ayub Afridi took very bold step to strengthen bonds between the two countries.

The governor said establishment of the consulate would go a long way in developing friendly relationships at the people’s level. He said the presence of Ambassador of Romania Eilion Ion along with other distinguished guests made the event more encouraging and hopeful.

He said security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata was far better than a few years back. He said Romanian investors and businessmen would be welcomed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier, speaking at the ceremony, the Romanian envoy hoped that the cordial relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the days to come.
