Attendance in schools to be computerized

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Dec 1: The education department will soon be linked with the domestic satellite system and a computerized attendance system launched in schools and colleges, said the federal minister for telecommunication & Information Technology, Awais Khan Leghari, while taking to newsmen at the local press club.

Mr Leghari said that 9.5 million consumers of PTCL had saved Rs6 billion due to the reasonable policies of the ministry. Now every villager could get a telephone connection by paying only Rs500.

He said that a wireless local loop system was also being introduced at 115 places in the country and at least 16 exchanges would be established from Wahowa to Rujhan Mazari in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajan Pur districts.

He said the ministry was launching a website for lawyers on which the history of all legal cases would be available. The district and tehsil bars and district press clubs would also be linked with the domestic satellite system.

He said that Bill Gates had contacted President Gen Pervez Musharraf regarding investment in IT in Pakistan while the authorities of Dubai Internet City were ready to establish an internet city in Pakistan.

He said that U-Phone would be launched in Dera Ghazi Khan district within two months.
