Three guards hurt in robbery

GUJRANWALA, Nov 30: Three security guards were injured by outlaws on resistance during robbery attempts in three different strikes in and around the city on Sunday.

Four dacoits entered the sweets manufacturing factory on the GT Road by scaling its boundary wall. They overpowered security guard Arshad and snatched Rs8,000 in cash and a pump action rifle from him. They also thrashed him with clubs when he tried to resist.

The outlaws then sneaked into another factory on the GT Road, held security guard Pehalwan Khan hostage and snatched Rs5,000 in cash and his gun. The bandits also injured him with the butts of rifles for holding them out and then escaped with the booty.

Five robbers entered a factory in Garjakh by scaling its boundary wall. They took guard Nematullah at pistol point, snatched Rs6,000 in cash and a gun from him. For offering resistance, the bandits gave him sound thrashing before fleeing from the scene.

CRUSHED:An army jawan was crushed to death by a speeding car on the GT Road in Rahwali on Sunday.

Imtiaz Hussain was crossing the road when the incident occurred. He died on the way to the local CMH.

Cantonment police have arrested driver Sohail Ahmad and are investigating.
