PATNA, Nov 28: At least 15 people were feared drowned after a boat with at least 45 passengers on board collided head-on with a steamer in Bihar, police said on Friday.
The collision took place in the Ganges river near Tikarpur, 200kms from the state capital Patna, when the boat rammed into the ferry coming from the opposite side during the night, police said.
A police official said at least 15 people were feared dead but only one body had been recovered.
The exact number of dead was unclear and the number of passengers on board could not be confirmed.
Survivor Makardhwaj Prasad estimated that around 100 people were on board at the time of the collision.—AFP
