Bailiff recovers youth from lock-up

GUJRANWALA, Nov 25: A court bailiff on Tuesday recovered a youth from illegal custody of the Sabzi Mandi police and produced him before court.

The court also summoned the SHO and the investigating officer on next date of hearing.

Rafiq Masih was sitting in his shop when police picked him at the behest of his rivals and detained him in the lock-up.

LIFE TERM: A local court awarded life term with a fine of Rs100,000 to Kamran in a murder case here on Tuesday.

The court acquitted four co-accused — Abdul Hafiz, Akhtar Bibi, Naveed and Saghir — by giving them the benefit of the doubt. Another co-accused, Iqbal, was declared proclaimed offender.

According to the prosecution, the convict had killed Ashraf over an old enmity in Baghbanpura on July 30, 2002.
