HYDERABAD, Dec 30: The Sindh Teachers Alliance (STA) called off its protest movement in view of the prevailing situation in the country.
The announcement was made by the central secretary of the STA, Qazi Aminuddin, in a press statement issued on Monday.
He said that the decision had been taken in a spirit of patriotism and due to the tension on the borders.
He expressed hope that the federal and provincial governments would also refrain from taking any step which could create unrest among the teachers and government employees.
He said the teachers and the government employees will not spare any sacrifice for the integrity and solidarity of the country.
He urged the Sindh government to accept the genuine demands of the teachers and government employees as a gesture of goodwill and cancel the transfer of primary school teachers under the re-deployment scheme, end the privatization of educational institutions and grant increment to all the teachers who had passed M.Ed and B.Ed examinations under regular or off-campus programmes of various universities.
The STA is a conglomerate of the All Sindh Teachers Association (ASTA), the Mehran Teachers Association (MTA), the Sindh Science Teachers Association (SSTA), the Masjid Schools Teachers Association (MSTA), the Sindh Female Teachers Association (SFTA), the Language Teachers Association (LTA), and the Sindh Oriental Teachers Association (SOTA).
TJP: The Tahreek-i-Jafria Pakistan, Sindh, announced that its Hyderabad District body had been dissolved and Syed Rehan Haider Naqvi and Mashkoor Hussain Kausar had been appointed district organizers with immediate effect.
