KARACHI: Sindh to play its due role in national progress: CM

KARACHI, Nov 23: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar has said that the province will continue to play its role towards the progress and collective prosperity of the country.

The chief minister said that economic policies of the government had been reflecting the continued stabilization and progress, which was a happy omen.

He expressed these views while speaking at an Iftar party hosted at the CM House here on Saturday.

Mr Mahar said that the law and order had been maintained throughout the province during Ramazan and people offered prayers with peace and concentration.

Besides, he said that many foreign and local businessmen had shown interest in making investments here in the province, particularly in Karachi, because of the prevailing peaceful law and order conditions.

The chief minister claimed that he would start a public contact campaign after Eid-ul-Fitr, hold open kutcheries in different districts and inquire about the problems of the masses at their door steps.

During his planned visits, Mr Mahar said that he would also review the progress of development schemes, visit the government offices and inquire about the problems being faced by people. He said that various comprehensive programmes would be initiated in health, education, social welfare, women development and information technology sectors.

Referring to his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, he said that he prayed for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan while performing Umrah.

Meanwhile, a number of ministers, advisers, high officials, social leaders and political workers called on the chief minister and felicitated him on performance of Umrah.

They included senior minister Syed Sardar Ahmed, ministers Chaudhry Iftikhar, Dr Saeeda Malik, Mir Manzoor Panhwar, Chief Secretary Mutawakkal Kazi, advisers Ijaz Shah Shirazi, Waseem Akhtar and other senior officials. —APP
