Special people in Swabi to get assistance

SWABI: Pakistan Baitul Mal would distribute Rs1.9 million among the special people here within next three days.

Sources in PBM told Dawn on Friday that a list of deserving people was provided to the PBM by Khidmat-i-Mazooran Tanzeem (KMT), Swabi. They said a total of 109 disabled persons would get Rs10,000 each.

They said after the names of the deserving people were verified by the PBM and the KMT leaders, their names were also vetted by officials of the district Baitul Mal to ensure that the needy people got the financial assistance.

The sources said Awami National Party Senator Sitara Ayaz played key role in helping out the needy people as she met with Baitul Mal officials in Islamabad and apprised them about the difficulties faced by the special people in Swabi.

The cheques have reached the district Baitul Mal office and soon after the completion of the verification process they would be distributed among the deserving people, said the sources.

When contacted, KMT general secretary Fazal Dad Khan, who is also a special person, told Dawn that they had completed verification 90 per cent people and the remaining 10 per cent would be completed soon.

Meanwhile, the special people complained that they had not yet received any Ramazan package from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

KMT former president Baidar Khan said unlike the previous years, the government has not yet come up with a special package for destitute people in the fasting without.

β€œIn the past we got commodities like ghee, sugar, wheat flour, fruits, pulses, rice and various other things for Ramazan but this year there is silence on part of the government and NGOs,” Baidar Khan lamented.
