DEMO: Workers of the National Biscuit Factory held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday against the non-payment of Eid bonus and leave encashment.
Leaders of the CBA union said the factory was earning huge profits but the management had refused to pay two months bonus and 32 days leave encashment which was paid on the first day of Ramazan.
They complained the workers were not registered with social security institutions and they were paid monthly wages between Rs1,500 to Rs1,800 against the statutory minimum wages of Rs2,500. They appealed to the higher authorities to direct the factory management to accept the charter of demands of the CBA.
