GUJRAT: The federal government has started constructing a safety wall along the rail track in the thickly-populated area close to the Gujrat railway station in a bid to save human lives and avoid hurdles in speedy trains.
The safety wall will restrict the free crossing of the track and the people residing in localities on both sides of the track will have to face lots of problems.
Official sources say that in the first phase the safety wall will be constructed along some one kilometer track from the railway station to the Shadiwal Road.
To facilitate the area people, the tehsil municipal administration has planned to construct two overhead bridges for pedestrians as well as bikers.
The district government has pledged to construct service roads on both sides of the track.
A delegation of area representatives apprised senior officials of the district government of possible difficulties the area people might have to face after the construction of the safety wall.
District Coordination Officer Liaquat Ali Chatha said that both the tehsil municipal administration and the district government were preparing a cost estimate as well as designs for service roads and two overhead bridges.
