Three FC men shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Three Frontier Corps (FC) men were killed when three unknown motorcyclists opened fire on their vehicle at Patang Chowk in Peshawar Wednesday morning.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat said the vehicle was approaching Patang Chowk from Ring Road when the assailants fired, killing two soldiers on the spot. A third succumbed to injuries at Lady Reading Hospital.

According to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mubarak Zeb Khan, District Officer FC Ameer Badshah and two constables, Gul Rehman and Gul Rasool were on their way to headquarters as usual when their double cabin pickup truck came under fire.

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack in an email sent to journalists.

Police surrounded the area and launched a search operation, though no immediate arrests were made. Initial investigation suggests a 9mm pistol was used to kill the men and 12 bullet casings have been recovered from the scene.
