IBA appoints new chair

KARACHI: The elite Institute of Business Administration (IBA) has notified Dr Faiza Mushtaq as head of the department of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts. IBA is one of the country’s leading business schools that has been making a strong push to enter into the Social Sciences as well.

Dr Mushtaq earned her PhD from Northwestern University, Chicago, in 2010, one of the world’s leading sociology departments. She joined IBA in 2014, and rose quickly to become programme director after one year, and department head in her second year. The term is for three years.

She replaces Dr Framji Minvala, who served as the first chair of the new department.

IBA has grown rapidly in the years when Dr Ishrat Husain served as its dean, with new campuses outside Karachi and expanded course offerings. Dr Faiza’s appointment is a signal that the university intends to take its growth into new areas seriously.
