ISLAMABAD, Nov 19: Kathy Evans, a well-known journalist and a specialist in Afghan Affairs, passed away here on Wednesday. She was 50.
Kathy first came to Pakistan in 1987 as BBC correspondent in Islamabad. Later, she joined Guardian of London and remained stationed here.
In 1992, she developed cancer, therefore, she had to go back to her homeland. She fought the ailment bravely and after recovery she resumed work with the newspaper in London for sometime and then returned to Pakistan.
During her stay here, she mainly covered the Afghan affairs. Later, she set up a charity trust for Afghan children and devoted herself for their welfare.
