HYDERABAD, Nov 19: The All Pakistan Clerks Association, held a demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday to press for payment of Eid allowance equal to a month’s salary of grade-1 to grade-16 government employees.
Led by Ashraf Bozai and Noor Mohammad, they carried placards and banners and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Speaking on the occasion, APCA leaders said that during the regime of the present government, only the salaries of federal and provincial ministers and speakers and deputy speakers had been increased but the poor government employees had been totally ignored.
They demanded that grade-1 to 16 employees should be given Eid allowance equal to their one-month salary to enable their families to celebrate Eid in a befitting manner.
ZAKAT: The poor people of Union Council Tando Haider, Deh Chacha Detha, including women, held a protest demonstration outside the press club against the UBL, Saddar branch, for denying them payment of Zakat money.
They told newsmen that the chairman of Ushr and Zakat Committee of their area had given them cheques of Rs1,500 each.
They said that the bank had refused to cash their cheques without opening an account of Rs500 each.
They said they were poor people and had no money to open accounts.
They said that either their cheques should be cashed or cash payment should be made to them from the Zakat Committee chairman’s account.
JSQM: The activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Tando Allahyar Taluka, held a protest demonstration outside the press club against the Chambar police.
Speaking on the occasion, Taluka organizer of the Mahaz, Baghi Habibullah Kalero said that the councillor of Union Council Chambar, Nisar Siddiqui and his companions, Khalid Qureshi and Babar Siddiqui, had attacked Chambar unit leader of the Mahaz, Faqir Ahmed Manganhar, without a reason injuring him seriously.
He said that the party activists had approached the Chambar police but they had refused to register an FIR.
They demanded the registration of an FIR and the arrest of the alleged accused.
FORMER EMPLOYEES: The former employees of the defunct SRTC and Zeal Pak Cement Factory continued their hunger strike/protest for the umpteenth day outside the press club against the non-payment of their outstanding dues.
NGO: The Sindh Rural Development Society, SINGOF and representatives of different NGOs on Wednesday in a meeting condemned the gruesome murders of two children, Mujahid and Lakhmir, in Larkana.
The meeting demanded that their killers be arrested soon and awarded exemplary punishment.
They regretted that the government had miserably failed to protect the lives of innocent people, which was its primary duty.
The meeting warned that if the perpetrators of such a heinous crime were not arrested soon, a series of protest demonstrations would be held throughout Sindh.
