KARACHI, Nov 18: Paceman Imran Ali snapped up six wickets to bowl Pakistan Customs to a crucial 201 runs victory over Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in their pool “A” Patron’s Trophy qualifying round last league tie at the National Stadium on Tuesday.

The DHA which had given fine batting display in their previous four games were shot out for 80 in their first inning and set a target of 340 in 117 overs, were dismissed for 138 in their second innings after having resumed at 119 for five wickets.

The three-day match ended half an hour after resumption on the third and final day.

Imran finished with excellent figures of six wickets for 57 runs in 17.4 overs while Junaid Zia grabbed three wickets for 47 runs in 13 overs.

Imran in a fiery spell took four wickets in 14 balls for nine runs as DHA lost their last four wickets for just six runs. He finished with match haul of eight for 105.

The overwhelming triumph gave Customs nine points and barring DHA score an upset win over PIA in their last league game starting from Thursday, Custom is almost assured of a place in Patron’s Trophy first class proper competition.

Customs raised their points tally to 30 at the conclusion of their six league matches with three victories, a defeat and two draws.

Custom now placed second behind PIA (36) while DHA is lying third with 27 points in five games.

DRAWN MATCH

The match between Pak PWD and Dewan Farooqi Motors Ltd (DFML) at Quaid-i-Azam Park ground Steel Township ended in an exciting draw with DFML last pair at the crease.

PWD after making 325 in their first innings, declared their second innings at 216 for eight.

DFML needed 258 to win in 185 minutes, finished at 210 for nine with Muhammad Masroor smashing a quick-fire 78 off only 48 balls with six powerful boundaries and three huge sixes.

Spinner Fahim Ahmed was most successful bowler with three wickets for 14 runs.

Zeeshan Pervez and Ahmer Saeed hit contrasting half centuries in PWD’s second innings. Zeeshan hit three fours and a six in his 58 and Ahmer’s 58 contained solitary boundary.

Rana Aqeel again bowled well and claimed four wickets for 40 runs to end with nine wickets for 125 runs.

PWD secured three points for first innings lead.

Khurram Manzoor and Tahir Khan starred in Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) first win when they whipped winless Pakistan Navy by 195 runs at UBL Sports Complex ground.

Khurram hit an attractive unbeaten 86 off 80 balls in two hours as KESC declared their second innings at 177 for three wickets in 29 overs.

Daniyal Ahsan hit 51 and added 99 runs for the second wicket with Khurram. Daniyal hit a century in KESC’s first innings.

Navy needing 296 for victory were skittled out for 100. Muhammad Waheed again fought a lone battle making 49.

Off-spinner Tahir grabbed five wickets for 22 runs in nine deadly over and left arm spinner Jaffar Qureshi claimed four wickets for 17 runs in 9.4 overs.

KESC raised their points tally to 12 in five games having lost three and drawn one.
