LAHORE: The Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) will launch its manifesto by the end of May with a focus on devolution of power and presidential system of government.

“The PSP is going to unfold its manifesto by the end of this month. Our manifesto’s prime focus is to ensure steps to devolve power at the grass-root level. It will also ensure debate on presidential form of government in the country. Our manifesto will attract the masses as it is for their empowerment,” said PSP founding leader Raza Haroon.

Talking to Dawn here on Wednesday, Mr Haroon said he and other PSP leaders had received a warm welcome during their visit to Lahore and Gujranwala.

Focus on devolution of power, presidential system

“We never had received such a welcome in Punjab when we were in the MQM,” he said.

About the prospects of the PSP in Punjab, Mr Haroon said: “A number of people are keen to join us including politicians of other parties. We are in contact with at least five ‘big names’ in politics in Punjab. Lawyers here too showed to form a PSP wing and it will be launched in a few days.”

He said unlike the MQM, the PSP was reaching out the people in all districts of Punjab and it would complete the party structure in two months. “We will hold a series of public meetings in Punjab once our party structure completes,” he added.

Mr Haroon said the PSP would form a central executive committee responsible for making national policies and provincial executive committees which would be independent to take decision in accordance with the requirement of the province.

“The provincial committees will not be given dictation by the central leadership,” he said.
