LAHORE, Nov 18: Robbers on Tuesday made off with cash, gold ornaments, valuables and vehicles worth over Rs3 million from different parts of the city.
Five gunmen burst into the house of Javed Bhatti in North Cantonment, held the family at gunpoint and took away cash, gold jewellery and valuables worth Rs1.1 million.
Four robbers stormed into the jewellery shop of Ashraf on Islam Road in Millat Park and made off with gold and cash worth Rs850,000.
Aqeel told the police that he withdrew Rs300,000 from a bank and was on his way home when four armed men took away the money.
Four bandits forced their entry into the shop of Ali Hasan at Chowk Yateem Khana and made off with Rs130,000 in cash.
Three gunmen stormed into the house of Sheikh Jalil at Mahmood Booti and took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs200,000.
Three robbers snatched Rs45,000 from salesman Ansar of a private company at Shabab Chowk. They thrashed him on resistance.
A car and three motorcycles were stolen from various parts of the city.
ARRESTED: Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested an alleged robber, who had escaped from a police lock-up in Sialkot, and his accomplice.
Police raided a place on a tip and apprehended fugitive Aslam and his accomplice Shabbir.
Three stolen motorcycles, a rifle, a mauser and over two dozen bullets were recovered from their possession. The accused reportedly confessed to have committed 17 crimes.
Meanwhile, Model Town police claimed the arrest of three alleged robbers.
Identified as Yasin alias Yaso, Khalil Ahmad and Shahzad alias Sada, they were held in a raid conducted on a tip. The suspects had allegedly killed their own accomplice Jamil alias Asif in a failed robbery at fruit market in Kot Lakhpat in August. Three pistols were recovered from their possession.
